Michael E. Houchins

Mike joined the AFBA family of companies in 1998 and during his tenure, has held various positions including Vice President for AFBA, Controller for 5Star Life, and Chief Financial Officer for 5Star Investment Management Company. In his current role, Houchins assists in managing the finance department and is responsible for reporting and projecting, both internally and externally, 5Star Life’s financial positions. Houchins is a graduate of the University of Maryland with bachelor of science degrees in accounting and marketing. Prior to joining AFBA, Houchins worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers as a senior auditor where he specialized in insurance and financial services companies. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with designations of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Charter Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI).
